The Sports Desk

A quantitative research desk for fantasy football — factor-based projections that show their work, built the way a trading desk is built rather than a rankings blog.

The Sports Desk

Next.js · PostgreSQL · statistical modeling

Most fantasy football sites hand you a number and ask you to trust it. This one is built on the opposite premise: every projection can explain where it came from. Four engines sit behind it — a factor model running fifteen weighted inputs, a simulator that models how football outcomes actually correlate rather than treating each player as independent, an ownership-leverage engine built to disagree with the crowd, and a news wire merged and de-duplicated from twenty-six live feeds. We built the whole thing: the data pipeline, the models, the application, and the interface that makes a statistical argument legible to someone who is not a statistician.

  • Factor model across fifteen weighted inputs, with every projection traceable to its sources
  • Monte Carlo simulator that models correlation between outcomes, not just isolated players
  • Ownership-leverage engine designed to find where the field is wrong
  • Twenty-six live NFL and college feeds merged and de-duplicated into one wire
  • Free tier built to be genuinely useful rather than a crippled demo
